About the Role:

‭ As a member of the Turbopack Team, you will be responsible for developing and enhancing our‬ advanced bundling technology. You will collaborate closely with a remote and distributed team‬ of talented engineers to create a best-in-class bundler that optimizes frontend code, reduces‬ build times, and improves the overall user experience for millions of developers worldwide.‬

What You Will Do:

  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Turbopack bundler, ensuring it meets high-performance standards and integrates seamlessly with our deployment platform.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance the bundler's performance, reduce build times, and improve caching strategies for faster application loading.

  • Work on integrating Turbopack with popular frontend tools, frameworks, and build systems, ensuring a smooth developer experience.

  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code. Conduct comprehensive testing to ensure the reliability and stability of the bundler.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and infrastructure experts, to address challenges and deliver exceptional results.

  • Engage with the open-source community, participate in discussions, and contribute to related projects, aligning with Vercel's commitment to giving back to the developer community.

  • Actively gather feedback from developers and users, and use it to drive continuous improvement and innovation in Turbopack.

About You:

  • You have at least 5+ years of relevant experience and 1+ years writing production Rust code

  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and experience with modern frontend development tools.

  • Solid understanding of bundling techniques, minification, and code optimization for web applications.

  • Previous experience in developing or contributing to bundlers or other frontend build tools is highly advantageous

  • Experience contributing to or participating in open source projects.

  • Familiarity with frontend frameworks and their build processes.

  • Experience with performance profiling and optimization for web applications.

  • A proactive and self-driven approach to problem-solving, with a passion for pushing the boundaries of frontend tooling.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

  • Based in Eastern Time Zone or willing to work during EST hours

The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $192,000-$288,000.  This salary range is an estimate. Actual salary will be based on job related skills, experience and location. Pay ranges outside San Francisco may be  adjusted based on employee location.  The total compensation package also includes benefits and equity-based compensation.
